Pearl Cafe - 28 Logan Road, Wooloongabba

Don't let the fact this place has cafe in it's name deceive you... I went in expecting just a cafe but this place is pretty amazing. I almost felt bad for bringing my crumb machines in there who let out the occasional squeal... The boys were also in one of those moods where they didn't want to sit long so I had to bail pretty quickly. I got to stay long enough to see just how beautiful this place is and some of their baked goods.

The light really is the first thing that strikes me about Pearl. This has clearly been a very well thought out design plan and by no means amateur at all. I think sometimes when people complain of menu costs they don't often consider or factor the amount of money a place like this has spent styling and decorating. People need to remember that the food is not the only cost and you also pay for ambience and the ambience in this place is amazing. It's totally deserving of the menu being a little higher than average also due to the quality of dishes. Again ambiance was the reason I felt bad for disrupting with the boys.

Pearl was immaculately finished and up kept... Totally unrelated but even the toilet was pristine and had Aesop hand soaps so their thought for their customers really extended beyond the food. When I took my son to the toilet I returned to see they had swept up some of his crumbs so they really do take pride in keeping this place feeling fresh and immaculate. It's nice to come somewhere that is proud and I like to respect places like this because they do go that extra length to make sure everything down to the final detail is perfect.

While I didn't get to sample the menu due to not wanting the boys to disrupt the other diners, we did however try some of the cheese scones, banana muffin and of course their rhubarb and ricotta cake. These were absolutely delicious and the flavours were just the right amount of intensity complimenting each ingredient in all of the things we tried. Perfect textures and nothing was ever too overpowering. For example the slight tart of the rhubarb was perfectly matched by the softer tastes of the ricotta.

Really if you are looking for a homemade style cake like your mother or your grandmother used to bake... This is the place because they just had that wholesome goodness about them. They did not at all taste like they came off a production line, they tasted like they were made with the same care and consideration they've put into this whole cafe. There's a great selection of drinks to accompany the treats too. Austin had a chocolate milkshake while I a flat white, which was good.

The staff were really pleasant to deal with. They were very accommodating especially in light of the fact it probably wasn't somewhere I should have taken Nash... I was impressed though to see them handle the situation well though. They even happily packaged our food up to take away. I really loved that even down to the packaging of their take away food they'd given thought to design and presentation.

I definitely would love to return alone, with Wade, friends or my only my oldest. It's really not a place I recommend taking young children particular those not used to dining out because I don't think it's fair on the establishment. None the less the the staff were super friendly and helpful even when we left a trail of crumbs over their floor.
